Well hello again, another weekend has passed and for the first time in a long while i had a good hit of tennis. I used to play a lot when i was younger but as i finished school i gave it up to free up some time, and it took me a few years before i went back for another stint. I started up a weeknight competition and played for about 2 seasons i think. This was all over a year ago now and i’ve been very slack since.
So in the spirit of new year resolutions i have vowed to get in better shape this year. Something which should be so easy but i find very difficult to find time to do so. I struggle every time i try to convince myself to exercise, simply because i get bored with walks or going for a run. Tennis however is my best chance to get in shape, its a sport i love to play and never get bored of. I have to admit the broadcast of the Australian Open and the fantastic matches that have been played so far have made me want to play even more.
So this weekend just passed i booked a court at Matchpoint Indoor Sports and went for a 2 hour session with my girlfriend. It was great fun, and more exercise than i’ve done in a long time and it didn’t even bother me. The venue is great as indoor tennis courts mean no wind, rain, too cold or too hot weather. It the perfect tennis environment! Now the big question remains for my fitness goal of the year… do i sign up for a competition which forces me to play tennis every week, and will surely get me in much better shape?
