Well hello again, well another weekend has past and its back to working mode but not before i tell of my weekend. This weekend i saw American Gangster at Village Cinemas Gold Class.
I’ll start with the movie itself, without giving anything away (i hate when people do that) it was great and you should go see it. It is quite a lengthy film lasting just under 2 and a half hours, but is never boring. There was plenty going on, and nothing felt dragged out. This was helped by the fact that the movie has two sides of a story to tell. That of the life of an American gangster and that of a cop. With Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe teaming up you can expect nothing but a great flick. I was also very interested to see Denzel play a bad guy, and Russell the good guy cop which seemed like opposites to their average roles. Well worth a watch for anyone but be prepared for some graphic scenes including kills, drugs, and some nudity.
Now onto the second point of this post, gold class cinemas. I enjoy a good movie whether its at home or at the movies, as long as its loud and on a decent screen. But i have to admit its quite fun getting served upon while at gold class. Setting up your order so that food/drinks are served to your chair at any interval you want is just fantastic. I had a gourmet sandwhich, followed by a pizza, and finally popcorn and slurpee. All of which were server to my chair at 30min intervals, which is totally awesome when seeing a movie of this length. This coupled with large recliner chairs, and a much smaller audience than a typical cinema makes the experience that much better. While its not cheap enough to be something you do every month, its well worth taking up the opportunity when a long movie you reallt want to see comes out.
So there is a tip for those looking for something to do, whether with a partner or just a mate (you can order a beer to be delivered every 15mins if you want :P) check it out sometime.
